We all have our favorite workout playlist that amps us up when we’re about to hit the gym. Let’s be honest though, it eventually gets old and loses its motivation factor. You find yourself spending more time skipping overplayed songs than actually getting in a productive workout. If it’s time to freshen up your workout playlist, we’ve got you covered! Admittedly, we’re feeling a little nostalgic since it’s Throwback Thursday, so we put together a workout playlist with the best throwback songs to get you pumped and moving.

Physical – Olivia Newton-John

There is no better song to start a throwback songs workout playlist than the smash pop hit from the 80’s. Olivia will get you pumped up and ready to tackle whatever challenge the gym holds for you today.

Survivor – Eye Of The Tiger

This is one of the most famous classics, it’s no wonder why it ends up on every “best oldies songs” list. The motivating lyrics in this song will have you feeling like you can take on any feat, just like Rocky. If you really want to be Rocky-esque, put this one on while doing stair runs and don’t forget to celebrate when you make it to the top!

Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana

Remember that angsty teenage phase we all went through (and would love to forget)? Well one positive that came from the embarrassment is this jam. If your workouts double as an emotion-purge, this song is a perfect fit for you. Blow off all your steam, whether you are pumping iron or running, with a little extra boost from Nirvana.

Honestly, this entire playlist could be Blink-182, but we’ve worked hard to narrow it down to their best song (yes, there can be too much of a good thing). There’s a reason they’re one of our favorite pop-punk bands of the 2000’s — all of their fast paced tracks make for perfect workout music!

Sabotage – Beastie Boys

Beastie Boys are a group that charted into a mixed territory of music genre. This song is a combination of rap and rock. Add this song for a little bit of both worlds to spice up your playlist.

Jump – Kriss Kross

This song made a comeback when it debuted on Just Dance 2 and it was one of the most fun to work up a sweat. Perfect for when you are jump roping or need a little motivation while doing box jumps. This song puts the hop in hip-hop.

For all the rock fans out there, we had to include one of our favorite rock songs of all time! There’s nothing better than a little good ol’ rock and roll to get you motivated and keep you going. This song has a great build and the guitar rifts will help you push through the hardest parts of your workout.

This Is How We Do It – Montell Jordan

Trying to squeeze in that post-work/pre-going-out Friday evening workout? Bump this song to get hyped for your workout and your Friday night plans. This is a great feel-good throwback song to keep your spirits high when it’s so easy to just skip the workout.

Space Jam – Quad City DJ’s

This jam (pun intended) is sure to get you up and off the couch! There’s no way anyone can resist busting a move or two when this one comes on. Just ask Michael Jordan! If this isn’t on your playlist already, you should be asking yourself why.

Mama Said Knock You Out – LL Cool J

Putting this forefather of pop-rap on your next workout playlist is a must. LL Cool J’s smooth attitude will convince you you’re the next Muhammad Ali.

Around The World – Red Hot Chili Peppers

It’s hard not to start on a high note with the guitar rift at the beginning of this jam. Throw this track on for a nice beach or trail run. It’s a classic, but we’re warning you now, you’ll probably start singing along.

Everlong – Foo Fighters

If we’re making a throwback songs playlist, it’s impossible to leave out classic American hard rock. The pace of this Foo Fighters jam is perfect for any type of workout.

Alive – Pearl Jam

Save this song for the very end of your workout – it’ll resonate the most when those muscles are burning out. It’s always great to remind yourself you’re still alive (and better for it!) after you push yourself through a tough workout.

Buddy Holly – Weezer
